I agree Ron. I love the old mixed with the new. Many ancient buildings in London, seem to be enhanced by a modern backdrop. But I love looking at old pictures to see how the skyline has changed.
I agree, Deborah. My dear mum was born in London, but due to a strange quirk of history was brought up in Hamburg Germany. Emma Heitmann came back to London in the early 1930s to claim her British passport. So, with her German accent, she used to sing ‘Maybe it’s because I’m a Londoner….’
Mum settled in London and married my dad, Charles Lossl, her second cousin. Now he had a cockney accent but was born in Versailles France. So, my history predicts my love affair with London and family history. Thank you for your interest in my blog. Please drop by again.
Aww … reminds me of the Old North Church in Boston … completely dwarfed. I bet back in the day it could be seen for miles!

When my bride and I were in London a few years ago, I was amazed at how we could span several hundred years all within a city block!

It’s those crowed streets with the mix of new and old architecture that I love about London.
