Postcard from Mykonos

Good morning from misty Mykonos, Greece. Under a morning star, we swam as our ship, MS Oosterdam, approached the island. Graham stopped for a chat with the captains. The fog horn sounded through the island fog as we docked in the island’s relatively new cruise ship berth. On previous visits, we had explored the charming town, with its narrow streets and ancient Venetian windmills.

The story of Mykonos

But today, we decided to turn left, while the rest of the passengers turned right! A short walk away from our ship, we enjoyed a crowd-free beach in the nearby town of Agios Stefanos. The clear azure water afforded a refreshing swim. We watched a sister ship, MS Nieu Statendam, sail ghostly through the ephemeral clouds. As the mist cleared, a warm autumn sun invited us to relax beneath our tiki umbrella, next to the gently lapping Aegean Sea.
