A lovely day in Bangor

The 6th day of our cruise, and we have docked in Holyhead, on the island of Anglesey, Wales. The train station, near the port entrance, enabled an easy journey from Holyhead to Bangor. The overcast skies did not detract from the beauty of the island of Anglesey. Once over the Menai Straight, our train was on mainland Wales, and through verdant countryside, we arrived in Bangor. The city has a historic University building that looks like a magnificent castle. We meandered down to the peer, from where we viewed the Menai Bridge, built by Thomas Telford. Graham remembers sea canoeing down the Straights, many years ago, when he was in the Navy.

It began to rain, just as we had bought some fish and chips, so we sheltered under a tree in the University park, to munch our lunch. Undaunted by the rain, we had a fun day. Then on our way back to Holyhead, the sun broke through. The last pictures in the video, are of Holyhead in the sunshine. Didn’t we have a lovely time, the day we went to Bangor!
