Lest We Forget

Today, I honor the memory of those who gave their lives in war.

Among them are my Grandfather, Emil Heitmann, who was forced to fight and die for the Kaiser. He was only 23 years old when he fell at the Battle of Loos in 1915.

And my great great uncle’s son, Otto Henseluck, who served under the name of Robert Smith in the British Merchant Navy. He was 17 years old when his ship was torpedoed by a German submarine.

Their stories are told in the book, Mizpah Cousins.
