Postcard from Lima, Peru

We sailed into Lima on grey, Pacific rollers. Humboldt penguins bob, dolphin and seal languidly feed in the fish rich seas. Flocks of sea birds dive bomb the fish shoals around the small fishing boats. Wildlife is varied and abundant, in the Southern Hemisphere.

The Oosterdam is in port for two nights. Many passengers are venturing to Machu Picchu, high in the Andes. We have happy memories of our adventure there, and last year we were privileged to explore, old town Lima. This stay, elected to stay in a hotel, in Miraflores, the vibrant, coastal business hub of the city.

Enjoy with us our nine mile walk through the area. Warmed by the balmy weather, 25c or 77f, we relished the sights and sounds.

That evening, we felt we earned our Pisco Sour, and beers at the local micro brewery.

A happy visit, with a pilgrimage to Paddington bear. A statue donated to the city, by the British Embassy. No sign of Great Aunt Lucy, though.
