We took a short train ride from Vena to visit the bohemian town of Valparaiso. We explored the port area, which was old and worn, and then we ascended through a labyrinth of narrow streets and stairs. The higher we went, the more colorful and creative the graffiti became. The town has a charm, but also a sense of decay.
We are now at Santiago airport, ready to fly back to Europe. We are grateful for your support and participation in our journey, and we enjoyed reading all your comments and feedback.
I found your video really beautiful!

Thank you, we always see beauty where ever we go,which I try to capture. Valparaiso has more poverty than Vena Del Mar where we stayed. Chile is a vibrant emerging country of 18 million souls. Wealth is apparent in some areas. The central business district of Santiago, Vena and other towns. We feel, this is cascading to the less well off, especially as the currency is stable, as is their democracy. Chileans are on the whole kind and considerate. There is a strong tipping culture, ie if someone cleans your car window at a light, most people will offer a few coins. There are unofficial street Parker’s, they help find a spot and help the driver park. I’ve seen these guys help the elderly with their shopping, in return for tips. It seems to be an equitable arrangement. Thought I’ve heard, if you don’t tip, your car may be in peril!!!!
We hope to visit Chile again one day.

Many thanks to you for your kind reply.
I have never visited Chile, but from what you say about the tipping culture, I seem to hear about the most degraded areas of some places in our southern Italy

I agree, Europe also has its share of underprivileged. The UK included. I love Italy, having only visited recently, and I’m looking forward to exploring more.
