Moving slowly into the first lock and sights from the lock. The electric train is called a mule. Steel lines from the mule are attached to the ship to keep it centred in the canal. There is just 2 feet clearance either side of the ship!
It takes on average, 8 a 10 hours to transit through the canal.

Interesting. Spent some time at the Panama Canal while in the service. Watching those Japanese factory ship pass through was amazing.
